The 5oz Foodie

I am having such a good time celebrating my Mom's 70 years and the fun isn't over yet... It's a month long celebration... What better person is there in your life that deserves to be celebrated... Mom and I were talking tonight and she said this is the best Birthday she has had in her adult life... I was shocked to hear her tell me she had not had a birthday party since she was a little girl... My favorite Birthday story of hers is when she was in the 6th grade.  She invited all the kids at school over and didn't tell my Grandma... Thankfully Grandma always made a cake for her birthday so everything was OK... So very often people are so wrapped up and worried about what our parents will do for us, that as we forget to do for them... Our parents give so much of themselves to us and never expect anything in return... I just want mine to know how much she means to myself and my brothers and those around her... Today is the birthday of a very important person in my life. She knew I was alive before anyone and felt me grow in her tummy. Mom, Happy Birthday... You have always taken care of me since I was very small and even now. I am so blessed that you are here in Florida with me. I don't know what I would do without you here. SO always remember... Today has been a really great day. I spent time with my mom working on our house this morning, working side by side creating something beautiful. Until it started to rain...Then everything we drug out of the shed was crammed back in for tomorrow. Then it was off to lunch and shopping! I feel so incredibly blessed to get to spend time with mom like I do. I don't know how I survived my first three years here in Florida without her. I'm not going to lie, I learned a lot in that time but there is nothing like spending time with your mom. I love that we have such a close relationship and she is there for mew whenever I need her. My heart breaks for my friends that are separated from their Moms, whether by distance, anger or heaven. I'm not going to say everything is always perfect with us but that's what great about the love we have for each other will never be broken no matter how mad either one of us gets.
